In 2014, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), represented by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), in partnership with the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), various institutions and Research Support Foundations, in this case that of Rio Grande de Sul (FAPERGS), announced INCT CALL – MCTI\/CNPq\/CAPES\/FAPs No. 16\/2014 and invited the Brazilian scientific community to submit proposals with the aim of supporting research activities with a high scientific impact in strategic areas for finding solutions to major national problems.
With this in mind, the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Maria presented a project aimed at setting up a research network in the area of distributed electricity generation, aiming to help reduce the scientific-technological gap that exists in Brazil. The project is entitled NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN DISTRIBUTED ENERGY GENERATION (INCT-GD). Meeting all the requirements and stages of call n\u00ba 16\/2014, the proposal received a favorable recommendation from the funding bodies and was implemented as of January 2017.<\/p>\n
